With over 200 km of marked runs and Europe’s largest skiable
glacier at an altitude of 3600 metres offering guaranteed snow,
Les Deux Alpes is one of the leading ski resorts in Europe.
The recent huge investments made by the lift company in new lifts,
snow cannons and restaurants makes it a wonderful ski area, the
snow cannons making it possible to ski right down to resort even
when snow conditions would not normally allow.

The ski area spans from 1650 metres down in the village to 3,600
metres at the top of the glacier, and during good snow conditions,
there is even skiing down to two of the mountain villages below
Les Deux Alpes. The sunshine record is enviable, with an average
of 300 days of sun per year.

Skiing
Beginners
Les Deux Alpes is a great resort for beginners with snow-cannoned
nursery runs at the foot of the ski area. Beginners should quickly
progress to “Les Crêtes” or the gentle green and
blue runs on the glacier allowing novice skiers to experience the
true delight of mountain-top skiing almost immediately.
Here the dome express funicular ‘underground train’
takes you to what feels like the top of the world, with amazing
views of Mont Blanc and the Ecrins.
Intermediates
With 200kms of piste intermediates are spoilt for choice. The imposing
Mont de Lans glacier ensures year round snow and provides spectacular
high altitude skiing with the added bonus of runs that lead directly
back to the village.
Intermediate skiers have access to just about every part of the
mountain, with miles and miles of perfectly pisted motorway blue
and red runs allowing you to improve your technique as well as enjoying
the different characteristics and scenery of different parts of
the mountain.
Les Deux Alpes also lets intermediates get their first taste of
off-piste skiing, as most areas between marked pistes are skiable,
allowing you to deviate from the marked runs and connect back on
to them when the going gets too tough.
Advanced
For advanced skiers, Les Deux Alpes opens up into an amazing
ski area. As well as having 15 marked black runs, including “Super
Diable” the “Belle Etoile” and the snow cannoned
Valentine leading right into the village, the off-piste skiing is
remarkable, with more and more areas opening up as new lifts are
put in.
From the end of January, the linked resort of La Grave opens up
with its world renowned adventurous off piste runs down the village
of La Grave
Ski area linked to La Grave- La Meije
From the top of the Dôme de la Lauze drag lift (3520 m), there
is a snow bus connection to the Vallons de la Meije (2150 m of off
piste descent in majestic surroundings)
(Access from January subject to weather conditions, it is advised
to go in the company of a guide)
Snowboarding
This really is a top resort offering terrain to suit everyone.
The boardpark at mid-station is well worth checking out kickers,
spines, rails and boardercross course.
The off piste is huge and challenging, try Serre Chevalier for
a day if you like trees. Beginners couldn’t ask for a better
place for a speedy progress.
Recent developments include the Les Ateliers Slide, with runs such
as the gulley, the canyons, the waterfalls, and the ledges as well
as boardercross and a massive halfpipe are all designed to require
different techniques and give different challenges.
