Other Activities
If you fancy a change to skiing and snowboarding there are a host
of alternative actives in and around Les Deux Alpes for you to enjoy.
Outdoor Activities

For getting around why not try dog sledging, snowmobiles, ice gliders,
or 'Karts', as well as the more traditional toboggans and snowshoes.
Alternatively
relax in the outdoor heated swimming pool situated next door to
the man made ice rink entrance to which is free depending on the
type of ski pass you have.
If you feel like ‘rising’ to the challenge why not try
Parapente. Experience the thrill of flying in a paraglider, with
a fully qualified instructor, taking off from an altitude of 7,200
feet and flying over the resort coming to land conveniently near
the Red Frog bar which is most advantageous should feel a stiff
drink is needed at that point.
If something out doors and a little less adventurous is in order
then how about the Snow Cruise , taking in among other things a
visit to the breath taking Grotte de Glace, or ice caves. Situated
thirty meters underground in the Mont de Lans glacier containing
spectacular ice sculptures in a magical setting
Follow the Inuit trail at the Kanata igloo village, in the Pied
Moutet area, where you can even stay on and find out how it feels
to spend a night in an igloo, complete with sleeping bag, dinner
and breakfast!
Indoor Activities
There are two bowling centres in Les Deux Alpes for indoor fun
and a new sports centre in currently under construction in the Mont
de Lans end of the resort.
Those who are keen on health, fitness and beauty may like to visit
the Tanking Centre, relax in the jacuzzi or have an invigorating
sauna. The truly energetic can always play Squash at the Club Forme
or bounce around on a trampoline there!
The Musée de la Montagne provides visitors with a wealth
of natural history exhibits, including the flora, fauna and geology
of the area. Virtual tours of the area are available from the CD
room.
If being seated comfortably sounds enticing, as well as for those
who find the small screen unexciting but fancy seeing a movie, the
cinema 'Le Slalom' is situated in the centre of the resort.

Amongst the highlights of the season are the village Christmas party
on the 24th of December, with the arrival of Father Christmas, fireworks,
a torch-lit descent and mulled wine and the New Year's celebration,
with more fireworks, another torchlight descent and, of course,
plenty of mulled wine...
For the Kids
Children of all ages are well catered for in Les Deux Alpes, with
all sorts of activities geared to the needs of the very young.
Some of the ski schools have 'garderies' for children of those attending
their courses.
The Garderie
There is a garderie for children from 2-5 years of age and
this can be booked on a daily basis. This is not run by the
European ski school, but by the local commune, and so may
be predominantly attended by French children. The Ecole du
Ski Francaise will accept children into their garden from
3 years, however this again may be attended predominantly
by French children. |
There is a crèche between 8.30am and 5.30pm in the Clos
des Fonds village for infants aged between six months and two years,
with fully qualified staff and excellent facilities, and a number
of kindergarten in the around Les Deux Alpes for children of between
two and six years old, open between 9.00am and 5.30pm, but the staff
may not be English-speaking in either.
Two slopes, l'Alpette and Les Rivets, are set aside for children.
The fun-lift on the Lutins slope makes it easy for kids to get up
the slope using a rubber buoy, before sledging back down.
In the Kids' Snow Park, children between six and ten years of age
can experience the thrills of snowboarding in safety, thanks to
a specially adapted area with mini drag lift, jumps, bumps and banked
turns to practice on.
The play parks offer a range of fun activities for children, with
tunnels, bumps and jumps to keep them amused. Three and four-year-old
kids can learn to enjoy snow with special games, sliding and sledging.
